This is a list of Opera companies, organizations, and new music ensembles formed since 2000 which perform opera.   1. New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) not only presented but commissioned two one act operas that premiered in March 2008 in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
    “Bastianello” (music by John Musto / libretto by Mark Campbell)
    “Lucrezia” (music by William Bolcom / libretto by Campbell)
    Both available on the Bridge Records label.

  2. Another company formed in the last 10 years is Haymarket Opera Company, founded in Chicago in 2011. The company specializes in Baroque opera.
