Mandolin Orchestras and Ensembles

The decades around the turn of the twentieth century saw the rise of Mandolin Orchestras throughout Europe, Japan, Australia, and the United States. By the early twentieth century many cities and schools had one and though these ensembles declined in the US during the war years there was renewed interested after the 50s due to interest in folk music. Within the past two or three decades many of the older mandolin orchestras reformed or new ones were formed signifying a renewed interest in the genre.
